I thought I would join in with this group today. My friend Kim posts about this every week. Today I am thankful for all the writers, actors, directors who make wonderful movies. They really lifted me up this week and I am so grateful for their efforts to make good movies with engaging stories that lift the human spirit. I rented a few this past weekend and finally got around to watching them all.
First there was this one which was truly delightful. I remember Julia Child from when I was a kid and I learned so much about her life that I didn't know. I have this desire to grab her book and try some new recipes now. What a delight this movie is.
I loved Julie & Julia! Cooking and blogging together in one chick-flick style film. Perfect! Now, how on earth did you miss Billy Elliot, that's such a wonderful film. I remember the miners' strike well, so many mines closed down now.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to think of a favourite movie and naturally now I am under pressure I cannot! Have you seen Stardust? I like that. I watched Nanny McPhee for the first time at the weekend with my son and we really enjoyed it (should I be saying that?). I'm sure I'll think of more later... naturally, I can never say no to The Sound of Music...
I've seen all three of these movies. Enjoyed them all.
ReplyDeleteYes, I like Thankful Thursday too. Have a collection of things to post that I am grateful for. Next Thursday for sure!
Gratitude helps keep a good attitude ! ;)
ReplyDeleteHave seen all three of these too - love, love love Billy Elliot ! His anger dance is phenomenal ! I wish I could move like that.
Glad you joined it ! Have a cozy Thursday evening !
Hey sis, Marianne and I love Billy Elliot. We watched it many times here. Went out and found the DVD and have watched it more. The kid who played Billy was in the latest King Kong and in the Movie Jumper with Hayden Christensen. When I saw him I said, Hey there's Billy Elliot.

Hi Kate: As promised, my favorite movies are Reds with Warren Beatty and Diane Keaton, Out of Africa with Meryl Streep and Robert Redford, and (yes, you knew there had to be a World War II movie in there somewhere) Mrs. Miniver with Claudette Colbert and Walter Pidgeon. Yes, I like Lord of the Rings movie, but am totally in love with the books. So many good movies (and books!) and so little time . . . . xxoo KateAnn
ReplyDeleteI saw Julie and Julia last weekend and I totally liked it too.

I loved Julie & Julia! I love Meryl Streep and Julia Child, so it was a perfect match for me. Thank you for mentioning the other two movies. I wanted to see them, but forgot all about it. They are going on my Netflix list now. I am grateful for blogging friends that open our worlds so much... xo
