Art Supply Shopping

I know you all want to see what goodies I found. It was my anniversary while I was gone so my sweet hubby gave me 100.00 to spend while I was away. How fantastic is that. Let me tell you when I added that to what I had already I was in art supply buying heaven.

I was so excited to find these, I have never even seen them online, just in Youtube video's. So I got 10 colors. I can't wait to play with them. They are the dylusion spray inks designed by Dyan Reaveley for Ranger. Remember this video I shared awhile back. I found these at Hobby lobby in Phoenix.

Then I found these liquid acrylics by Daler Rowney and they are awesome.  People in my class were using them. So I had to head down to Sedona Art Supply and get me some of my own. The color supply was limited but I still managed to find some I liked.
















Then there are always miscellaneous crafty things to pick up.  A new gel pen to try, tiny tiles and discs for jewelry making and a glue stick. A girl can never have too many glue sticks.

In Phoenix my sister dragged me to a quilt store called Quiltz, where I got these 2 fat quarters.

In Sedona I found another wonderful quilt store and found this little pattern for a small quilt/wall hanging. I had seen rock art the day before so this felt like a great way to have memory of that.

I found these 3 orange fat quarters to use for the pattern. I figured I had enough in my stash for the other colors needed.

My last piece was this petroglyph piece that will be great as the main panel in a tote bag. I sure had fun buying all these things and I am sure using them will be a blast.

Out of town

On Saturday we went up to Ennis and Virginia City Montana for the day. As we drove through the town of Ennis I saw this sign and knew I wanted to stop.










It was a lovely Quilt shop run by a couple from Delaware.  The rooms were full of wonderful fabrics and I got seduced by these batik's. They had an entire room full of these fabrics, it was really hard to choose.









But of course I managed to find a few to take home.










Then we found a knit shop and I got this silk/wool lace weight yarn.  I had a great chat with the store's owner Christine. I found out she was a spinner too. She  asked if I might want to come back and teach a spinning class and I said I would think about it.  I just might do it, I used to teach both spinning and weaving.










Ennis had all these interesting features.  This group of pack animals was on the roof of the Ennis Cafe where we stopped for lunch.










and then across the street was another spot called the Blue heron.
Virginia City

Virgina City is a historic mining town, full of new and old buildings from back in the 1800's.  The first place we went was Boot Hill, a cemetery. The signs told us that this is where the road agents were buried.










Well I had no idea what a road agent was till I saw the graves and saw that they all had been hanged. They were the outlaws of the period.

Then we saw this little cemetery for the rodent agents.  Someone really had a sense of humor to set this up.  Click on the picture and you should be able to read what their crimes were.










In one of the shops was this beautiful poppy paper.  I just had to take it home.

Lastly I went into a shop called Victorian Sisters. I found this necklace and it  seemed so fitting.  It says Follow your Heart.
All in all we had a fabulous outing, sometimes it feels so good to just get out of town and explore something new.
