A Hodgepodge of Things to Share

A few collages that I have been working on, not sure if they are finished or not, or if I want to journal on them or not so I will let them be for now.

A lot has been going on so I guess its time to put it out there. My husband Dave has been having problems with his left eye. He can only see around the edges. His optical nerve is swollen but they do not know why. He had an MRI and that came out clean, then they took blood to run tests and see if there is an infection and those came back clean. He has another appointment today so hopefully they will have some ideas. If it turns out that he had a stroke in they eye they can not do anything. His other eye compensates so he can still see, but his depth perception is off and he gets tired easily. We are hoping for some new information from the eye specialist.

Then yesterday my good friend Terri, one of my Glitter Sisters who has been battling stage 4 breast cancer for the past year and a half got an even worse blow. Her oldest daughter, her rock, the child who has helped her most through this was killed in a car accident. The family has experienced so much loss it is hard to think on how they will manage this too. My heart just aches for her.

I have managed to get some baking done, here are some of the cookies Sarah and I decorated. The tree is up and the rest of the decorations are in place. I have all the gifts bought and wrapped. So time to get back to doing some art.  Which of course means a major clean up of the studio.  I wish there were studio elves who came by and took care of that part. It funny how now that I have the space cleaned up and the time I don't know what I want to do. Should I pick up unfinished projects and get back to them, should I start something new, oh so many choices. Do you ever find yourself in that predicament?

This sharp-shinned hawk was in my backyard last week. He stayed for quite awhile and then he was gone. I had never seen this particular hawk before so I thought it was pretty cool.

  1. Hi Kate;
Definitely lot's going on for you. I am so sorry to hear about your hubby's eye. I pray for healing for him.
I am also sorry to hear about your good friend Terri loosing her daughter - how tragic for them all. I pray the Lord's peace upon all of them.
I always have many projects on the go - it is a bad habit of mine as I tend to not finish many.
Wow, I love that hawk picture, I would be ecstatic if a hawk would fly into my yard, mind you, my toy poodle/pappilion probably wouldn't like it very much:)
    Merry Christmas Kate
    Thanks for sharing your cookies.
    Hugs and blessings

  2. I hope Dave gets some good news about his eye. And I can't even imagine what Terri is going through right now. I couldn't believe it when I heard.

As for those studio fairies....if you find them send them over to my house after they finish with yours. I could use their help!

  3. There seems to be so many people suffering and experiencing loss around me as well, Kate. It is so hard. I am trying my best to focus on what is good and to hold what is dear to me as close as I can.
Sending light and love to you and your hubby.
    HUgs !

  4. Oh my, I am so sorry for your dear friend... my prayers to the family.
I must say... those cookies look pretty tasty!! :]
Sending you love & prayers as well *hugs*

  5. I too am sorry to hear about Dave and I also hope he gets good news from the doctors when they figure it out. It makes me realize yet again how fragile everything is, including our health. Whenever I have problems with my eyes, I too get very tired; it's so straining to have to do work with your eyes that you're not used to. Anyway, sending prayers for good news soon.

I am also sorry about your friend's daughter. Kim had also written about so many hardships among people she knew and it really seems that way.

I like both of your pages; I don't know if they are done or not but I think they are crying out for written words by you, maybe with a white pen. But I do love seeing how you incorporate words with your pictures, Kate.

And as an aside, as a white pen lover I have finally found the ultimate white pen, better than all of the others I have tried, at called the Uniball Signo, but it is the one made in Japan. It doesn't skip and flows so that you can write as quickly and as clearly as with any regular pen on paper--a dream white pen.

Anyway, sending prayers and love to you and your family, xoO

  6. Wishing that all will be healed real soon. And I want to say how much I love coming to see you here in Ole Blogland, Merry Christmas sweet girl, and keep your crown on my Queen! Mary
