Collage Night

I'm still sick so there hasn't been much art this week.  I did this collage tonight though. I laid down some book page scraps and then covered it with Neocolor II watercolor crayons. I activate the crayon with gesso and then stenciled with distress stain.  Then I added lots of different collage elements.   Journaling went on top after I took this picture.

I'll be posting to Express Your Creativity on this tomorrow.  Be sure to check back here to see how others have been creative this week.

Kickin It Old Skool Blog-a-Thon - Show and Tell

Today's prompt for the Kickin It Old Skool Blog-a-Thon hosted by Jamie and Shannon Ridler is show and tell.  I have been working hard on gifts but I can't show them here.  If you were on Jamie's Spreecast today, you got to see them.

This is what I made this morning, I got out my Cricut electronic die cutter and made some tags for presents.

Then I attended Creativity and Coffee with Jamie. I brought my journal, gelatos and WC crayons to the office and just played while the event was happening.  Just a journal page of color and pattern and lots of fun.

Evolution of a Face

I have been working on this face for several days now.  I used my friend Annie's paintings for inspiration. It started with an acrylic background. Being too lazy to get up and get my paints i grabbed the first art supply near me.  These are Neo ColorII watercolor crayons.

I keep adding more color and changing things each time I think I am done.  Taking pictures along the way.

I didn't like the mottled background so I added crayon all over the background.  I think it makes her face pop more. Each time I look at it I want to add or take off colors, blend them more. Its hard to let this one go, to say its done but sometimes we just have to realize its time to move on and start work on your next one.

Do you ever have this problem?

A More Interesting Face

Face 23 was created with Neocolor II watercolor crayons. I had major problems with this, I may have to try the image again on different paper. I had too much water on the page and almost got a hole in it. Very frustrating.

Next I wanted to do a more interesting face.  I got out the Sennelier oil pastels, oh I love these tools. I first heard about them from Mystele and she told me how she loved their creaminess. She is so right they are wonderful and blend so well.  I am slowly building up a collection of colors.  I really wanted paynes grey today but didn't have it so that goes on the list.

I think of her as a wise peasant woman, I would like to do more faces with character. All the magazine images I use for inspiration show young women.  I think its time I started to portray another kind. I can see a new Pinterest board in the making.

Sunday Sketches And A Tutorial

Here is todays sketch, I was attempting something that was a little hard to do in church, so the body was not quite right, so I filled it with words anyway.  Check out Sophia's blog for other sketchers,

Now for my friend Jolene a tutorial on one way to use Neocolor II Water color crayons.
