It's war and a few paint and passes

When my friends were here from Salt Lake I discovered some yarn had been destroyed by mice.  They were not anything that important.  Just left overs from projects.  I had thought oh I am going to have to put all my yarn in storage.  I have it in wire crates so that I can see it all.  I just brushed off the damage to a couple isolated cases.  Then I found this.

This is what one of the fair Isle gloves I got in Scotland looked like.  That is a gaping hole on the side of the glove.

So I went out and got these containers. I have been putting all the yarn in these nice storage drawers. Its a lot of work to do this but I figured I had no choice


Remember when I was doing those paint and pass canvasses.  Well they are still making their rounds. They are pretty full so it was hard to find a space to put anything.  I have three to share today.

This one was my friend Sioux's.  I ended up adding the zentangle marks in the border.

This one is my friend Gemma's I added the checkerboard and enhanced the flowers on the bird

This one is  Violette's,  i added the crow to the piece.  Its her totem so I really felt it had a place here. These were really fun to work on.  I think the artwork is amazing.

Paint and Pass Continues

I thought I had better get the latest paint and pass done and out of the door before my surgery. I have had it for several weeks just couldn't decide what to do on it. I added the water, figured the bird flew over water to land. Its on its way to Texas now.

I made this little bag to hold my kindle today.  I am so lucky that I know how to sew so I can make things like this.  Thanks to my mom who taught me to sew as a child.














The only art I have to share is a work in progress.  This was an old canvas that I didn't like.  I slathered on molding paste and collaged some papers, added more paint papers and stamping.  I saw the figure on the right and then added a friend on the right. I hope to work on this some more today so stay tuned for further developments.

Spray painting again.

I made this page several days ago and then forgot about it. I really liked the image and just added some embellishment to go with it.












The weather is finally nice enough to do some spray painting. This background was done months ago. The cranes and dragonfly's were spray painted with a stencil.












This background was done with that gesso ghost writing technique. It was so long ago that I don not evwen remember what I wrote. I am a little rusty with my spray painting so the city did not trun out exactly right  but I still like it.














This is one of those pages that has paint on top of paint I never like the colors but with a little spray paint it came to life. These stencils were made with my Cricut electronic cutter.

This background was fun because I randomly used 4 colors of spray paint. The paper I used for the stencil was bought a long time ago. I just never had the opportunity to use it yet. I think it will be a fun one.

On this one I added the sun. I had a hard time decided what to do here but my muse Zoe told me to paint a sun so I did.










I saw a mountain in the background   so I added several.

In the morning I am heading to Missoula for my daughters college graduation. I won't be posting till at least Wednesday, see you then.

A New Sketchbook Project

I  was asked by Mary of Joyful Ploys to be the next participant in another sketchbook project.  This was started by Jennifer Zoellner.   I really like participating in these.  It always seems to give me the opportunity to try something new, and I get to meet new artists and have a little fun. This sketchbook is pretty small and the unfortunately the tiny book keeps coming apart.  

For this page I first glued 2 pages together, the paper was really thin and then stamped the words with a Slate StazOn Ink. Then I painted the bird with Golden Heavy bodied acrylics.

There is not much to say about this, I had glued down some handmade paper and then these collage items. I like its simplicity,

















 The next two pages were going to be a one single page but then the book fell apart.  I had to use some tape to put it back together and then I lost the cohesion of the piece. So I decided to just make 2 separate pages.  I used golden fluids on the pages and some Stewart Gill paints for the accents.

















I had this greeting card of a sun with celtic patters all around it. I used the idea but made it  different. When I added the rays I had no idea what else I would do.  These pattern just seemed to want to be there. I love it when things flow like that.

Here is the latest paint and pass canvas I worked on.  I added the little fish.  It is really hard not filling the canvas. There are a total of 11 people painting on each of these little 5 x 7 canvases, so I try not to take up too much space.

Remember the Moleskine sketchbook project I did months ago.  Well here is a video of the almost finished book. It really is awesome to look at.

Paint and Pass project

I am taking part in what we are calling Paint and Pass with my glitter sisters. We all start with a 5 x 7 Canvas board and paint the background and then it goes to the next person, who paints something and then passes it to the next person. Eventually you get it back and all your friends have contributed to a group painting. I think it will be fun.

This is my friend Kai's panel. I added the mermaid. Its a stamp and I used staz on ink and then painted it using Twinkling H2O's. They are watercolor paints that have a metallic sheen to them. In fact these paints have an interesting story. I think it was last year the company announced that they were closing shop due to the economy. It was due to the support of all their customers that they managed to remain open and to revitalize their company.  I love success stories like that.

About all I have been doing is these black and white drawings. I don't think i can call them zentangle's since they are supposed to be square. It started with a circle and then I built upon that. I really like this one. I am not sure if I want to add more to it or not.










This was started with a stamp in the center. My friend Janet suggested this and I think it was a great idea. I don't know if I will ever tire of making these.
