Its been a busy week here. I have been really enjoying the layered impressions class, I am taking with Katie Kendrik. We have been painting faces on telephone book pages. I have had so much fun with the process that I did five of them.
On this one the telephone page was transferred onto watercolor paper.
Here the paper was glued to the watercolor paper.
This was one was another transfer.
I even took a try at doing a man.
This is the last one I did, I kept the wonky look of the original. Normally I would have given her more of a forehead and more hair but I kind of like her look. These were so much fun I think I will do more at a later date. Tomorrow I'll start working on a collaged portrait. This is so much fun.
Have a great weekend everyone.
These are great Kate. Were the telephone pages hard to work with as they are so thin? I would think they would be like working with tissue paper. These faces turned out awesome!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend too.

Katie's class is fun and your faces are, too. I like them all and I'm glad you left the last one just as she is because she's my favorite. Good for you for painting a man. I have trouble doing them but maybe with this technique I'll give it a try.
ReplyDeleteHi Kate...I noticed your faces over at Yahoo...I figured that I'd be able to get a better look here at your blog. Isn't this a cool way to paint faces?? I love it! Your faces are terrific!!! I really like the first one...the last one is super too!!!

Hi Kate, love the faces. Looks like you've been having lots of fun. You're inspiring me to maybe drag out my old phone books again. I love how flexible the paper is and how bits of text can shine through.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun- i love the layerd look and what a great green idea- who doesn't have old phone books laying around
