Link Love - August 9

I woke up this morning realized I never posted my blog for today. I had one started and went to do the finishing touches on it when I discovered that the folks over at Link Love changed the rules.  You are supposed to post about 5 favorite topics.  I don't have the time to re-do my post so it will just have to do.  My links seem to cover three things that interest me though.

My first topic would be monoprinting or gelli plate printing is a favorite as you know I post tutorials a lot. These three have some awesome ideas that you will love.

Wipe Out Monoprinting  this one from GelliArts shows using those Princeton Catalyst tools to make some great patterns.

gelatin printing Linda Germain does some amazing thinks with prints.  You are going to want to look at a lot of her posts.  I loved what she did with silhouettes.

gelli plate tools MaryAnn shows you a multitude of ways to make tools to use in monoprinting, she has some great ideas.

Another topic I like is DIY, using what you have and recycling materials.  So this next one fits that bill.  Its how to make your own watercolor paints.  Home made watercolor paints

Another favorite is using materials in different ways. Alisa Burke's post is perfect for that.  I hadn't thought of using stamps in that way before.  stamp-rubbings

The colors are naturally colored cotton except for the blue which is made from recycled blues jeans and white cotton blended together. There are various shades of brown and green cotton and some blends.

Link Love June 21

I wasn't going to do Link Love this week.  Usually I have come across sites all week so when Friday comes I am just about finished.  Not so this week. I had to write the post on Wednesday because of a routine outpatient thing I am doing on Thursday. Didn't know if I wanted to spend the time, but I am glad I did. I found some fun things I know I want to try out.

So you might wonder how I find people. I belong to several art groups on Facebook and sometimes I get links there.  I also go through blog rolls on blogs I follow looking for good links. Or I search out Twitter or Youtube and use their recommendations or search on a subject. The fun thing about all this is I get to find things I like too, that I didn't know about. It is sort of an adventure, a treasure hunt to see what people are doing on the net.  I hope you enjoy looking at these.

This weeks links are

http://www.lantier.org/  Eric Maisel is a guest in this post, and talks about his new book, Nine Keys to Achieving Your Artistic Goals.

I love the idea of repurposing things especially junk mail. Here is a tutorial on making washi tape with old catalogs and packing tape. http://youtu.be/zuTOApvVXw4

http://www.erinfaithallen.com/  Erin runs wonderful retreats in Glastonbury, England.  I loved looking at some of her art.

Andy Skinner http://youtu.be/J7hUJrJZfhY has a tutorial on making alcohol ink backgrounds.  Its very easy to do and you can get stunning results.  I can't wait to try this one.

Angelia's post is all about making poetry tiles to use in your art journals.  I love this idea.  angeliasartjournals.

Link Love

I decided that I would jump on the Link Love bandwagon organized by Tammy over at Daisy Yellow.  The idea is to share blog posts that inspire and to introduce new people you have found to get them some traffic. We all love sharing what we have found. I love looking at new things, as I am sure you do.

Make your own file folders with Aimee at Artsville . These are so cute, I might make some just for fun.
Lost Coast Post Michelle has a delightful blog with all these cute monsters, plus tutorials and more.  She never fails to delight.

Dances With Wool. Lene is a knitter and creates beautiful work.  Even if you don't knit her blog is a visual feast. She is in Finland and truly appreciates the beauty of her surorunding.

Fueled by Clouds and Coffee Tina's delightful blog showcases her watercolor sketches. I like her style and you may too.

Its About Time  Barbara does this wonderful blog and a few others too.  The focus is on art collections and history.  Make sure to check out all the different collections.  Its a great resource for artists and history buffs too.
