Full Moon Dream Boards

I know I am late, the Full Moon was last week but I say better late than never.  My good friend Claire does her dream boards in a journal.  I thought that was such an excellent idea. Did I do any, well no. It was one of those things I was going to do I just never got around to it.  I even suggested the idea to a coaching client and she started doing them.  Silly me what was I waiting for.  I knew I had a book I could put them in I just needed to find it.  So without any planning today I just did it.  Sometimes that is the best way.

The advantage of doing them in a sketchbook/journal is you have a record of a whole year or more. It will be great to go back and see what I was thinking at any given month. Its a very cathartic process, just cutting out images from magazine that you are drawn to.  This was the frosty moon so I looked for images that resonated with me and then words I was drawn to.

Have you made a vision board like this?

Vision Boards for Clarity

I talked about doing morning pages yesterday and how they help me get back on track to the things I want to do in life. Another tool I often use are vision boards. I really have been called to do a new one but kept putting it off. First I told myself I had no magazines and then no time. In fact most of the images for my vision board I pulled off the internet so having no magazines is just one more excuse you tell yourself. As to the time thing, I just through that out the window and just did it.

For me Vision boards help me to focus more on what I want to bring into my life. This board has things I want like shoes and clothes but also travel locations and projects like my books and coaching course and even flowers for my garden.  You can have a single vision or a broader one like the one I did. Do you have a project that seems stalled and needs a new life.  Try doing a vision board for it.  You may find that it is just the thing you need to get focused on it again.

More end of the year musings

I know some of you get The Notes from the Universe in your mailbox I discovered that Mike Dooley now has a social site. The link to join is here If you don't receive the
notes then go here to sign up. It is one of the best gifts you can give yourself.

One of the cool thing on the TUT site is an online vision board maker. Its full of fantastic images and you can upload your own too. What a great tool. Speaking of vision boards, today is the perfect day tohttp://twitter.com/leah_art/status/7238494938 do one. Today is just full of extra energies that make it more powerful.

* Its the end of the year
* Its the end of a decade
* There is a full Blue moon
* There is a lunar eclipse
* The moon is moving into Cancer which has strong feminine energy.

Now tell me do you need any more reasons to work on a vision board for 2010 today? You can join in at tut.com or do one the old fashioned way, with magazines and glue and poster board. Being the overachiever I am I will probably do both just because I can.

Another fun thing to do on the last day of the year is to do something you love to do and really want more time for in the new year. So I am about to take my dog out for a walk and then I will do some painting in the studio. We all want more time for creative pursuits so I will end the year doing them and start the new year tomorrow by doing the same. How will you spend the last day of the year?

The Joy Diet - Nothing

This past week the Joy Diet group focused on doing nothing for 15 minutes a day. I had it easy this week. I have spent the week camping in the Tetons. It was easy to be able to do nothing every day. It is also pretty much a part of my usual routine so I had no difficulty. That is not to say that I didn't have my mind wandering all over the place I think that is just part of the process. I like to have time to meditate daily but sometimes I don’t get to it. I just don't take the time.

This week was a reminder how important that is for me. The other thing is I like how Martha gives you options for the process, like being in motion. I so appreciate that she doesn't say you have to do it this way or nothing. A transition is so helpful.

One of things Jamie asked us to do was to make little vision cards for the week. I really didn’t have the materials to do a Joy card while I was out here. This is the one I made when I got home.

This is also the one I made on doing nothing…… I toyed with the idea of just a blank card but then I decided visuals were important. Visions of beautiful surroundings are important when I do nothing and I thought a time piece was very important. To make my cards I took an 8.5 x 11 piece of cardstock and cut in half. It is a small size to work with and I think it works well. These could be done on any size but I do like the small size as you could carry it with you as a reminder for the day.

Vision Board

I believe in the power of vision boards so I like to use them for varous things in my life. This book project of mine is a big thing so it definetly needed a vision board. I finished it up today. I painted the entire board and then used foam stamps in several colors and images. Then I glued down a pretend book, a pretend article and some ideas I have for the book.

I like how vibrant it looks. I may change it over time like take off some things and add others. I could add a picture of me signing a book or the actual book cover after its designed or some reviews and so forth. There are so many things you can put on a vision board to keep the vision alive. Maybe today is the day you make your own.
