There is a lot of activity going on but there is not much finished.
I took these towels off the loom yesterday but now they need to be washed and hemmed.
This is another warp ready to put on the loom. It is hand dyed silk and I am going to make a kimono like top out of it.
Then there is my new mailbox, here it is with its first coat of paint. I haven't decided what I will paint on top of this yet.
Here is a sneal peak at the suitcase I am altering.
I started on the journal using the Creative Awakenings: Envisioning the Life of Your Dreams Through Art
This is the cover, you are supposed to decorate the aluminum with alcohol inks but I really didn't like how it looked so I took it off. The cover is supposed to have symbolic elements. I chose a raven and the four directions are here along with the moon, sun, stars and a spiral. I also stamped things I liked on the cover like turtles, hands and dragonfly's.
This shows the center piece a little better.
I do like how the back cover turned out too.
In the beginning of the book she asks you several questions and I am going to do journal pages on some of them. This first one was all about the past year.
This one was all about your personal and creative strengths. I thought it would be easy but found it difficult to come up with very much, I know I have more strengths so I will probably be adding to this page at a later time.
Paper Bag Journal
After countless hours trying to get a video made of my paper bag journal I went to Slide and had them do it. Its on my sidebar if you would like to look.
Progress is so good - it shows we are moving forward, right, Lovely Kate ?
ReplyDeleteLooks like some wonderful juicy things are going on and keeping your artist heart whole as you face some challenges in other areas. You are a good Queen, milady ! Big Hugs !
You have been busy again. I love those towels. And I bet you knew the mailbox would definitely catch my eye!
ReplyDeleteI have Creative Awakenings and I need to get it out and read it again. Your journal center piece is great and perfect for you.
WOW....you certainly have been busy, busy, Kate! LOVE the colour of that mailbox and I'm looking forward to seeing what you paint on it. I haven't got Creative Awakenings but I've noted it down to check out at Fishpond.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful centrepiece! OH, and that loom fabric looks fabulous!
I read back a few posts to catch up a little and I see you are having surgery at the end of the month. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for a swift and speedy recovery.
Hugs,
Serena
You are VERY prolific. What a blessing to have so much energy, Kate! As always, I enjoy your work. xoO
ReplyDeleteWow.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, wow. Where have I been? I turn my head and then look back and find all this creative magic sparkling around and in you! Seriously, such amazingly diverse projects and all so rich and varied. I've added that book to my ever-expanding Amazon wishlist :)
You've reminded me of something I realized yesterday: in my "struggle" to know what it is I want to be doing (so many things!) I realized I simple want to create a beautiful life for me and my family. Maybe that's shallow; I don't think so. I think beautiful things (and beauty is in the eye of the beholder) inspire us to be and live more fully. Beautiful things lovingly created send that message of love and care out into the Universe. What you are doing here is crafting a beautiful, loving world for yourself and those around you.
