Some time with Trees

We have had the most glorious weather this past weekend.  I spent some time on the greenbelt. Its a green area around the Snake River that runs through my town.

I had brought lunch and sat down on a blanket and began looking at these trees. The weather was gorgeous and the smell of the trees so enticing.

Then I layed down and looked up.

I was so amazed at the sight I saw I ran to the car and grabbed the camera. I loved looking at all the branches and seeing how different they were and where they were all headed.

Next time you are out visiting trees, try a different viewpoint and you may be surprised at what you see.

This great horned owl has been visiting our backyard. All I could get was this silhouette of her.

... and  now some art. I started this drawing with a stamp again. I really like this technique of starting with a stamp and then just building on it. It is so much fun, you should try it.

  1. That's such an inspirational post Kate. Maybe I'm in a bit of a sponge mood... I'm just pausing in between waiting for paint to dry. I'm doing a new art course and tonight's homework is centred around doodling. Those tree images have given me wonderful ideas, as has the concept of starting with a stamped image. Funnily enough, I've sort of done that. I had a page in my sketch book where I'd been trying out some new stamps. I dripped ink all over them and then blew the ink with a straw. Each splurt goes totally where it feels like and creates some wonderful starting points.

  2. I love this post! A new perspective is always good. Love the zentangle.

  3. love the zentangle too, and those trees are amazing!

  4. The tree photos are very inspiring. Trees are some of my favorite things....I even wrote a poem about a tree once long ago!

LOVE the zentangle! Aren't they fun to do??

  5. Wow, I have been catching up on your blog. i must have gone back five or six posts. Love these tree photos, all the art and the book suggestions too. I wonder if Blogger has not been alerting me to all the blogs I follow? But nice to be back on track with you.
